The Paul Scherrer Institute IT department (AIT) is responsible for the infrastructure, operation and support of central and distributed computing resources for all users of the institute. The spectrum ranges from "Office-type", database applications to data acquisition applications and other high performance computing needs. In addition the whole operation and support of the central PSI library is managed by AIT. In particular we provide our customers with:

• Central computing resources for office and research applications, such as central file, print and cpu/batch servers, central archiving and backup services.
• Support for selected UNIX platforms and the Windows operating system
• Network infrastructure, availability and security
• E-mail, web and other information services
• User support services with help desk and trouble ticket system, user training, centralised account management, guidelines and documentation
• Support and operation for various database applications and services
• Application software support and central license handling.
• Centralised organisation of ordering and installation of desktop and other distributed computers.
• Operation and customer support for the library, integration into the Swiss-wide library system NEBIS.
